When planning our trip to the French Riviera, I wanted to visit a lot of little towns along the South coast of France. We stayed in the hotel in Nice and traveled around by car that we rented on the next day after our arrival. One of the cities I was most excited to visit was Menton, situated right at the border with Italy. When we just arrived in Menton I couldn’t believe that I have never heard of this place before planning this trip. It is definitely one of the most beautiful towns in the South of France and I would definitely come back to Menton.
After spending some time on the main beach – Plage des Sablettes we went for a walk in the old town. We climbed to the top to see the Basilique Saint Michel and La Chapelle des Penitents-Blancs. After doing a little of sightseeing we went had lunch at the Les Enfants Terribles restaurant and also grabbed some delicious Kouignettes at the Maison Georges Larnicol bakery that is totally worth visiting!
The two best spots to see the city are definitely the Quai Imperatrice Eugenie and the part of the beach near the Les Sablettes beach and cafe. From here Menton looks unbelievably colorful!
Когда мы планировали поездку по Лазурному берегу, то собирались посетить много маленьких городов вдоль французского побережья. Мы остановились в Ницце, взяли машину на прокат и каждый день ездили в разные интересные места. Одним из городков, которые я больше всего хотела посетить, был Ментон, который расположен на самой границе с Италией. Когда мы добрались до Ментона, я не могла поверить в то, что никогда не слышала об этом городе раньше, до того как начала планировать эту поездку, ведь этот город несомненно достоин внимания!
После того, как мы провели время на главном пляже города – Plage des Sablettes, мы решили прогуляться по старому городу. Если подняться по ступенькам вверх, то попадете прямо на площадь с очень красивым собором Basilique Saint Michel и расположенной неподалеку La Chapelle des PEnitents-Blancs. После небольшой прогулки мы очень вкусно пообедали в ресторане Les Enfants Terribles, а в кондитерской Maison Georges Larnicol я попробовала свою новую любимую французскую сладость – kouignettes.
Ну и напоследок, самый красивый вид на город можно увидеть из двух точек – Quai Imperatrice Eugenie и та часть пляжа, где находится кафе Les Sablettes beach. Отсюда город кажется просто невероятно красочным!
