Last month, Rob and I had an amazing honeymoon experience in Corsica. For the last part of our trip we decided to spend a weekend in Bordeaux – the city that we wanted to visit for so long! It was a great decision and I couldn’t think of a better way to end our honeymoon. We stayed in the amazing Intercontinental – The Grand Hotel in Bordeaux and it was definitely one of the best hotel experiences ever! The Grand Hotel is situated on one of the main squares of the city, right opposite the National Opera of Bordeaux. The hotel is part of the Intercontinental Hotel Group since December 2015.
The hotel indeed feels very GRAND, from the interior to the rooms to the main facade and the service. We stayed in one of the Executive Suites with the Opera view and it was the best decision ever. In the morning we have decided to have our last honeymoon breakfast in the room by the window and it was a perfect ending to our wonderful trip.
After breakfast we went to check out the famous SPA Bains de Lea and had the most relaxing time there. The most interesting thing about the spa was the “black” swimming pool that was decorated in the mix of the Greek, Roman and Byzantine style, surrounded by the ancient columns. It is also possible to enjoy the jacuzzi that is situated on the rooftop of the Grand Hotel. On the rooftop of the hotel you can also find the Night Beach bar that functions in the summer. The Bar terrace offers some of the best views on the city!
Apart from the Night Beach rooftop bar, there are three more restaurants in the hotel. The two main restaurants of the hotel are established by Gordon Ramsay – the Michelin-awarded Le Pressoir d’Argent and the more democratic Le Bordeaux Gordon Ramsay where you can try South-Western France specialities with a British touch. During the afternoon, you can also enjoy the ambience of the beautifully decorated Bar of the hotel.
