Last month my mother and I spent a couple of days on the French Riviera, specifically in the beautiful city of Cannes. We got to stay at the amazing Martinez hotel, located on La Croisette – the famous Promenade along the sea. It was a perfect time to visit Cannes – right after the Cannes Film Festival and before the Cannes Lions festival, so the city was quiet and not so busy with tourists/celebrities.
Our room was located on the 7th floor of the hotel and we had the most stunning view on the sea and La Croisette. We spent every evening sipping champagne and watching the sunsets over the city of Cannes.
A couple more facts about the hotel:
- the hotel is built in the art deco style and first opened its doors in 1929
- the private beach of the hotel is largest in Cannes
- the La Palme D’Or restaurant is the only ones in Cannes with 2 Michelin stars
I had no idea, but the Martinez hotel is actually in the middle of the big renovation at the moment and will soon close for a few months to finish the works in time for the next season. Even though our room was the one of the old design I got to look inside one of the new rooms and loved it! Can’t wait to go back to this hotel after the renovation is finished!
